“Local Regeneration”: Creating Lively Towns Utilizing Human and Environmental Resources

This laboratory conducts survey and research on the current situations, challenges, causal relationships, and policy effects concerning themes such as nature, renewable energy, waste and resource circulation, shopping streets, transportation, lifestyle, community participation in areas suffering from depopulation and industrial declines. We contribute to solving social problems in some cities and rural areas through the practical activities such as environmental education and ESD (Education for Sustainable Development) at kinder gardens, elementary schools and high schools as well as planning and organizing events of shopping streets and neighborhood associations utilizing both environmental and human resources in collaboration with local people as part of “local regeneration”.
